Vehicle Body Builder Apprentice

Certificate III Automotive Manufacturing Technical Operations (Vehicle Body Builder)

As a Vehicle Body Builder Apprentice, you'll learn how custom truck bodies, trailers and transport equipment are designed, fabricated, assembled and repaired.

Working alongside experienced tradespeople, you'll gain hands-on experience across fabrication, welding, mechanical fitting and manufacturing while developing sought-after trade skills that can set you up for a long-term career.

You Will Learn How To:

- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical plans
- Fabricate and assemble custom transport equipment
- Perform welding and metal fabrication activities
- Install hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical components
- Repair, modify and maintain heavy vehicle equipment
- Operate specialised workshop tools and machinery
- Apply quality workmanship and safe work practices
- Work as part of a skilled manufacturing team

What You'll Be Doing

Throughout your apprenticeship, you will:

- Learn from qualified tradespeople and experienced mentors
- Assist with the manufacture and assembly of transport equipment
- Complete structured workplace and TAFE training
- Develop practical fabrication,



welding and mechanical skills
- Work on real projects from day one
- Follow safety, quality and manufacturing standard
- Maintain training records and logbooks
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment

About You

You don't need prior industry experience to succeed. What matters most is your attitude and willingness to learn.

To be successful, you'll:

- Have a genuine interest in fabrication, manufacturing, automotive or trade work
- Enjoy practical, hands-on tasks
- Be reliable, motivated and eager to learn
- Have good communication and teamwork skills
- Hold a current C Class Driver's Licence and reliable transport
- Be committed to completing a four-year apprenticeship
- Be able to successfully complete a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening

A pre-apprenticeship qualification is advantageous but not essential.
