Our client, a leading Queensland local government organisation, is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to join their Technology team.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of projects and major system and process enhancements, working closely with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand business needs and translate them into practical technology solutions.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Coordinator ITS Partnering, the Business Analyst will act as a trusted partner to business stakeholders, supporting projects and operational teams across Council.
You'll be responsible for gathering and analysing business requirements, documenting current and future state processes, developing functional and technical specifications, and supporting testing, implementation and user adoption.
The role will suit a Business Analyst who enjoys working closely with people, can translate technical information into clear business language and is comfortable operating across a complex, multi-disciplinary environment.
Key responsibilities include:

- Partner with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand business problems, requirements and opportunities.
- Represent current and future business requirements in the design and delivery of new and enhanced business and IT systems.
- Gather, analyse and document business requirements, processes and system needs.
- Develop high-quality business analysis artefacts, including current and future state process and system documentation.
- Map relationships between business systems, data structures and data relationships.
- Develop functional,



technical and user specifications to support project delivery.
- Work collaboratively with project teams and operational stakeholders to deliver business and technology outcomes.
- Develop training documentation and user guides to support system adoption and utilisation.
- Work with testing teams to support testing activities and facilitate end-user acceptance.
- Provide trusted advice to stakeholders, helping build understanding and capability across technology and business systems.
- Identify opportunities for process and system improvements through analysis, research and understanding of emerging technology.

About You

- Minimum 5 years' relevant industry experience, including at least 3 years in a similar Business Analyst position.
- Proven experience working as a Business Analyst within a diverse, multi-disciplinary organisation.
- Tertiary qualifications in Business Systems, Information Technology or a related discipline, and/or substantial relevant industry experience.
- Experience with business requirements gathering, process analysis, system documentation and functional specifications.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, consultation, negotiation and influencing skills.
- The ability to educate,



coach and influence stakeholders and build trusted relationships at all levels.
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, particularly within complex technology environments.
- The ability to interpret technical information and translate it into clear, audience-appropriate communication.
- Experience supporting testing, user acceptance and system implementation.
- Formal qualifications or experience in ITIL/Service Management and Project Management will be highly regarded.
- A strong understanding of emerging technology and the ability to identify opportunities for improvement.
