The Firm

An excellent opportunity has become available for an Intermediate to Senior SMSF Accountant to join a well-established and highly regarded accounting firm in Brisbane.
n
The firm has a strong SMSF division and is looking for someone with hands‐on SMSF experience who wants to continue developing their technical capability while gaining exposure to a diverse portfolio of funds.

The Role
n
n
Prepare financial statements, member statements and income tax returns for a portfolio of SMSFs.
n
Review and process contributions, pensions and investment transactions in line with SMSF legislation.
n
Manage annual compliance requirements and liaise with external auditors to resolve queries.
n
Correspond directly with clients and the ATO regarding fund compliance, lodgements and general queries.
n
Assist with actuarial certificates, pension documentation, minutes and resolutions.
n
Monitor contribution caps, pension minimums and other relevant regulatory requirements.
n
Work across BGL and other cloud-based accounting systems.
n
For more experienced candidates,



provide technical support and assist with reviewing work completed by junior team members.

About You
n
We're open to candidates from Intermediate through to Senior Accountant level, with the position and package tailored to experience.
n
n
Previous experience working with SMSFs within an Australian accounting firm.
n
A relevant Accounting degree.
n
Valuable working knowledge of SMSF legislation, including the SIS Act, SISR and relevant ATO requirements.
n
Experience preparing SMSF financial statements and tax returns.
n
Exposure to contributions, pensions and other SMSF compliance matters.
n
BGL/BGL360 experience highly regarded.
n
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
n
Confident written and verbal communication skills.
n
The ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
