Position Information
Googong High School will open to year 7 and 8 students in ****. Situated in the Queanbeyan Network on Ngambri and Ngunnawal Country, the school serves a rapidly growing, highly engaged and aspirational community, with the potential for the school to expand to cater for approximately **** students.
The Special Education Teacher position will be a founding member of our Student Matters faculty, which focuses on providing holistic learning, wellbeing and logistic support to students and their families. This position will have a critical role in helping establish our first multi-categorical support class at the school. They will not only be involved in the dynamic teaching of students with specific needs, but have a key voice in the development and design of a new and growing support unit at the school.
Googong High School is being designed around an exciting and creative curriculum structure that is founded in Learning Sciences. As a new school with the opportunity to establish a dynamic and contemporary culture, the school is building a learning design that reflects a broad research base in effective and modern teaching practices. This includes a whole school skills framework (RECONI). These skills will translate across all our mainstream and special education settings.

Selection Criteria
Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience teaching students withAutism and/or Mild Intellectual Disability.
Ability to plan, implement and reflect on quality teaching programs that support students with complex needs.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form strong relationships with staff, students and families.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
