Senior Data Scientist , Fraud & Financial Crime

The Opportunity
A leading financial institution is seeking a Senior Data Scientist, working on complex, high-impact fraud and financial-crime data science initiatives . You'll take ambiguous problems through to real operational adoption.
Your remit will span transaction monitoring, suspicious matter investigations, scams, AML/CTF, entity resolution, typology discovery and network analysis , combining statistical rigor with anomaly detection, NLP, Generative AI and graph analytics.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead integrated use cases across transaction, customer, account and network data, translating financial-crime typologies into testable hypotheses, features, graph patterns and alerts
Select fit-for-purpose methods from rules through classical ML to deep learning and graph techniques and establishing credible baselines
Own evaluation for rare, adaptive and weakly-labelled events, addressing temporal leakage,



selection bias and class imbalance through rigorous back-testing and sensitivity analysis
Partner directly with financial-crime leadership, investigators, engineers and assurance teams
What You'll Bring
Advanced practical expertise in statistics, ML and rare-event evaluation, backed by solid Python and SQL
Advanced depth in at least two of: anomaly/behavioural detection; graph analytics/network science/GNNs; entity resolution; NLP/GenAI; neural networks for sequence or representation learning
A track record of independently delivering complex analytical solutions into live operational use, ideally within fraud, financial crime, or a comparably regulated, large-scale environment
Practical understanding of AML/CTF obligations, Model Risk and Responsible AI frameworks
