APS6 hourly rate contract, 6-months + possible extension Located in Canberra, ACT NV1 Clearance Required About the Role The Strategic Communications Officer will work as part of the Tuvalu Section and report to the Assistant Director, Tuvalu Section.
Tasking and the clearance of work relating to the Falepili Mobility Pathway will come from the Pacific Mobility Section, with Assistant Director Tuvalu Section in copy.
The officer will be responsible for maintaining and implementing the Australian Government's strategic communications plan for the Australia-Tuvalu Falepili Union Treaty.
This will include developing Treaty-related communications materials, with a particular focus on Australia's development and security partnership and provide a supporting communications function for the Falepili Mobility Pathway (FMP), including its social media presence.
Key Duties Under the direction of the Tuvalu Section, support the development of communications materials related to the Tuvalu-Australia relationship and development program, including: Maintain and update the strategic communications plan for the Falepili Union Treaty.
Develop communications materials related to the Falepili Union Treaty, with a particular focus on Australia's development and security partnership with Tuvalu.
Develop coordination mechanisms within DFAT, across the Australian Government and with key partners in Tuvalu to identify communications opportunities.
Ensure Australian Government communications related to the Falepili Union align with the strategic communications plan and agreed branding.




Manage the Australian High Commission in Tuvalu's Facebook page in collaboration with Australian High Commission staff.
Support for the FMP Under the direction of the Pacific Mobility Section, support the development of communications materials related to the FMP, including: Social media communications Assist with developing content for the FMP channel Monthly forward planning of content Production of designed tiles (requiring experience in a design software package ie Illustrator, InDesign) in accordance with the Falepili Union Branding Strategy Developing FMP content for DFAT channels (focusing on Funafuti, but may expand to include Wellington and Suva) Monitor the comment section of FMP channel and moderate as required Maintain a tracker of hidden comments Help develop a social media moderation policy (based off the PEV policy) FMP information assets Assistance to draft fact sheets for the FMP program Coordinate the translations of key information Assist with producing final product fact sheets in accordance with the Falepili Union Branding Strategy Maintain currency of produced information,
