About the Nihongo Tanken Centre
The Nihongo Tanken Centre is a Japanese language and culture immersion centre, based on the grounds of Kirrawee High School in southern Sydney.
Students K–12, from both DoE and non-DoE schools, visit the centre for a 4-hour immersion experience.
The centre is open to excursions 4 days each week.
The remaining day each week, as well as mornings pre-excursions and afternoons post-excursions, are set aside to complete administrative tasks as outlined in the 'About the position' section.
About the position
The operations and programs of the Nihongo Tanken Centre, including promotional strategies, excursion organisation and delivery, high-level record keeping, program evaluation and improvements, student workshops, teacher professional learning, stakeholder relationships, and site management.
The Tanken Centre Officers also design and deliver curriculum support for Japanese K–12, aligned to syllabus outcomes.

The****transitional arrangement for the recruitment of Non-School Based Teaching Service positions, for all Senior Education Officer 1 (SEO1) and Senior Education 2 (SEO2) positions across the Department have ceased.
Revised eligibility requirements for SEO1 and SEO2 positions are now in place.
