Are you an experienced teacher looking for a diverse and rewarding opportunity in North Queensland?
As a District Relief Teacher (DRT), you will bring highly developed behaviour management capabilities, flexibility and the capacity to support teaching and learning across multi-year-level classes.
You will be attached to a Base School while providing relief, including covering unexpected staff absences, across schools within your nominated geographic area.

Why become a District Relief Teacher in North Queensland?
DRTs provide relief for staff who are absent from school,



ranging from daily relief through to longer-term placements.
DRT roles are for a maximum of 12 months, with full-time arrangements preferred.
Part-time arrangements may be negotiated upon application.
DRTs retain the same conditions of employment and entitlements as classroom teachers.
As a DRT, you will:
Be attached to a nominated Base School and provide relief at Host/Cluster Schools as required
Provide daily and longer-term relief across a range of school settings
Report to the Base School Principal, who will provide support and professional development and manage leave and other employment matters
Have access to your entitled Non-Contact Time (NCT) and undertake a reasonable amount of playground duty
Report to your Base School when not booked at a Host School and undertake duties allocated by the Base School
The DRT pool is managed through ClassCover to coordinate relief requirements across the identified geographic area.

Townsville
Remote Schools (travel required)
Opportunities are available across Primary, Secondary, Primary/Secondary and Special Education settings, as well as Cleveland Education and Training Centre.




School allocations may change in response to workforce requirements.

What You'll Need
To be considered, you must:
Hold a relevant teaching qualification
Hold full or provisional Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration, or be eligible to obtain registration
Have Australian working rights or hold a valid visa
Hold a current driver's licence
Ideally, have a minimum of 12 months' teaching experience
Be able and willing to travel within your nominated geographic area
Be able to teach within your nominated school type and subject areas, where applicable
For current Queensland Department of Education employees, have the support and endorsement of your current Base School Principal
Current departmental employees must demonstrate satisfactory performance and conduct and may be subject to relevant departmental suitability and employment checks.
