About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mine Geologist to join our Mining team at Willowdale Mine, reporting to the Short Term Planning Superintendent and working a Monday to Friday roster.
In this technical role, you will be accountable for mine geology and grade control activities, including modelling the bauxite resource to optimise recovery and delivered ore quality.
You will provide technical leadership across geological modelling, ore design and short-term execution, helping the operation make informed and timely mining decisions.
Plan infill drilling, maintain the grade control model and re-optimise or redesign ore to meet grade control requirements.
Minimise ore loss and dilution and support accurate reconciliation by tracking ore from mining through to processing.
Design and supervise drilling programs, ensuring they are delivered efficiently and to a high QA/QC standard.
Collect and interpret geological data, including assays and mapping, to define ore blocks and provide accurate information to mine planning.
Partner with production teams, open pit supervisors, mining contractors and technical stakeholders to support efficient orebody extraction.
Maintain geological and production databases, keep geological models current and complete periodic and technical reporting.
Provide direction and development to Mine Geologists and Grade Controllers, while supporting protected and environmentally responsible work practices.

What you can bring to the role
A degree in Geology, Earth Science or a related discipline.
Significant direct experience across mineral exploration, mine geology, ore design and grade control.




Experience using geological or mining software, preferably Vulcan or MineSight.
The ability to take ownership of work and produce clear, concise technical reports.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary technical and operational teams.
Demonstrated people leadership capability and the confidence to engage with senior leaders, technical professionals and operational personnel.
About the Location
Willowdale is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia, and is located in the Darling Scarp east of Waroona and Cookernup.
It supplies bauxite ore to the Wagerup Alumina Refinery via a direct overland conveying system and helps to produce almost half of Australia's alumina and approximately 19 per cent of Australia's aluminium.
