An established banana farming business in the Innisfail region of North Queensland is seeking 50 Banana Farm Workers for immediate commencement.
These are casual positions for an expected duration of 6 to 9 months, subject to seasonal requirements, operational needs, and individual performance.
Employment Conditions
Employment is in accordance with the Horticulture Award 2020 (MA000028).
Successful applicants will:

- Commence at Level 1 classification under the Award.
- Progress to Level 2 classification upon satisfactory completion of a three-month probationary period, in accordance with the Award.
- Generally work 5 to 6 days per week between the hours of 6am to 6pm, depending on weather conditions and crop requirements.
- Be offered an average minimum of approximately 30 hours per week, although hours may vary based on operational requirements and seasonal conditions.
- Be paid at the applicable award rate for their classification under the Horticulture Award 2020 (MA000028), together with any applicable overtime, penalty rates, allowances, superannuation and other entitlements in accordance with Australian workplace laws.
- Be required to work weekends, including Saturdays and Sundays, when operationally necessary.

This role involves physically demanding manual work in tropical conditions, including regular exposure to hot and humid weather.
Duties
Field Duties
Duties may include, but are not limited to:

- Harvesting banana bunches.
- De-leafing, stringing and de-suckering banana plants.
- Planting and maintaining banana crops.
- Irrigation activities.
- General farm duties as directed by the Team Leader, Supervisor or Farm Manager.

Packing Shed Duties
Duties may include, but are not limited to:

- Hanging banana bunches.
- De-handing, grading,



sorting and packing bananas.
- Packing banana cartons.
- Stacking cartons and preparing fruit for dispatch.
- General packing shed duties as directed.

Employees will be expected to perform any lawful and reasonable duties within the scope of their employment as directed by their Team Leader, Supervisor or Farm Manager.
Applicant Requirements
Applicants must:

- Be physically fit and capable of performing repetitive manual labour.
- Be reliable, punctual and self-motivated.
- Be able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Be willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Follow all lawful and reasonable directions.
- Comply with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.
- Follow workplace policies and procedures.
- Treat fellow employees with respect and professionalism, regardless of race, culture, gender, religion or background.

Previous experience in banana farming or horticulture is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.
A current Australian driver's licence is advantageous but not essential.
Own transport is not required.
Workplace Compliance

- Workplace Health and Safety legislation and workplace safety procedures.
- All lawful and reasonable directions issued by their Team Leader, Supervisor or Farm Manager.

The employer maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding alcohol and illicit drugs in the workplace. Random drug and alcohol testing may be conducted to maintain a safe working workplace.
Any breach of workplace policies, including safety requirements or alcohol and drug policies, may result in disciplinary action, which may include termination of employment.
