About the role

Reporting to the Group Accountant and working closely with management and operational teams, the General Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial and management reports, supporting budgeting and cost analysis, and coordinating accounting activities across multiple business entities. This is a full-time position based in Melbourne CBD.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare and maintain financial records, general ledger accounts and supporting accounting documentation.

- Prepare periodic financial and management reports, including profit and loss statements and other financial information for management.

- Manage and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts.

- Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes and financial reporting.

- Prepare and monitor budgets, cash flow forecasts and operating expenditure.

- Analyse financial performance, expenditure and budget variances and provide financial recommendations to management.

- Coordinate accounting information and financial transactions across multiple business entities and assist with the allocation of shared business expenditure.

- Assist with payroll-related accounting and ensure accurate recording of employee-related expenditure.

- Support internal financial controls, accounting procedures and compliance requirements.





- Liaise with management, operational teams, suppliers and external professional advisers regarding accounting and financial matters.

About you

- A Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Accounting, Finance or a closely related discipline.

- Relevant accounting experience.

- Strong understanding of financial accounting, reconciliations, budgeting and financial reporting.

- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable and month-end accounting.

- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

- Robust Microsoft Excel skills and experience with accounting software such as Xero or similar systems.

- Good written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to work effectively with management and operational teams.

- Experience within hospitality, multi-site or multi-entity business operations will be highly regarded.
