The Opportunity

Islamic College of Brisbane is seeking an experienced and values-led educational leader to join our senior leadership team as Head of Junior Secondary School Years 7 to 10, commencing Term 1, 2027.

Reporting to the Director of Educational Operations (P-12), the successful applicant will provide operational leadership for the Junior Secondary School and ensure its effective day-to-day management. You will foster a culture of academic excellence, student wellbeing, professionalism and accountability while supporting students through an important stage of their secondary education.

Working collaboratively with College leaders and operational teams, you will align people, systems and resources with the College's strategic direction and Islamic ethos.

- lead the daily operations and strategic priorities of the Junior Secondary School;

- lead and support teaching, school officer and administrative staff, including performance, professional growth, workload and wellbeing;

- oversee timetabling, scheduling, staffing allocations and organisational coordination;

- manage budgets, facilities and resources with relevant College leaders;

- maintain high standards of governance, policy compliance, child safety, duty of care and work health and safety; and

- build solid partnerships with students, parents, guardians, staff and the wider community.

Selection Criteria

- Bachelor of Education or equivalent qualification recognised by the Queensland College of Teachers.

- Current QCT registration or eligibility for registration.

- Full Australian working rights and current residence in Australia.





- Ability and willingness to relocate to Brisbane, Queensland, at your own expense, if required.

- Proven leadership experience managing staff, resources and operations within a school environment.

- Demonstrated experience in staff recruitment, induction, appraisal, performance management and professional growth.

- Strong understanding of educational policy, compliance, governance, child safety and duty-of-care requirements.

- Demonstrated capability in budgeting, resource allocation, timetabling, organisational coordination and stakeholder engagement.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, high emotional intelligence and the ability to manage complex and sensitive matters professionally.

- Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively with students, parents, staff and College leaders.

- Be fully supportive of the Islamic ethos, values and practices of the College.

- Postgraduate qualifications in educational leadership or management are desirable.
