About the Service

The SPARK Child and Family Mental Health and Wellbeing Program is a PHN-funded initiative providing early intervention mental health and wellbeing support to children aged 5-11 years and their families.

The program delivers child-centred and family-focused support that promotes positive mental health, strengthens family relationships, builds parenting capacity and improves outcomes for children experiencing vulnerability or emerging wellbeing concerns.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the program provides coordinated and accessible support through community-based, home-based, school-based and office-based service delivery.

About the Role

As the Senior Mental Health Practitioner, you will provide specialist mental health assessment, intervention and therapeutic support to children aged 5-11 years and their families. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-informed psychological interventions that promote children's wellbeing, resilience, healthy development and family functioning. You will provide clinical supervision, consultation and practice guidance to multidisciplinary team members, supporting high-quality service delivery, reflective practice and positive outcomes for children and families.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide comprehensive mental health assessment, intervention and support to children aged 5-11 years and their families.
- Deliver a range of age-appropriate, evidence-informed psychological interventions to children aged 5-11 years and their families, supporting mental health, emotional wellbeing, healthy development,



resilience and positive family relationships.
- Support parents and carers to strengthen family relationships and build their capacity to respond to their children's developmental, emotional and mental health needs.
- Provide clinical consultation, supervision, specialist advice and therapeutic recommendations to multidisciplinary team members to inform assessment, intervention planning and service delivery.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including schools, health services and community partners.
- Ensure services are welcoming, accessible, culturally responsive, child-safe and inclusive.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, care planning and service coordination activities.
- Actively engage in clinical supervision, reflective practice and ongoing career development.
- Maintain high-quality clinical documentation, outcome measurement and reporting.
- Deliver services in accordance with the SPARK Model of Care, organisational policies and relevant legislative requirements.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing or another relevant discipline.
- Registration or accreditation with the relevant professional body (AHPRA, AASW, ACA, PACFA or equivalent).
- Demonstrated experience providing therapeutic, mental health or wellbeing support to children and families.
- Sound knowledge of child development, attachment, child mental health and family systems practice.
- Experience delivering evidence-informed psychological interventions with children and families.
- Experience providing clinical leadership, supervision and case consultation to multidisciplinary teams supporting children, young people and families.
- Strong assessment, engagement, formulation and risk-management skills.
- Excellent communication,



collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
- Current NSW Driver Licence.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Australian work rights.
