Wunan Foundation is a leading Aboriginal development organisation based in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Its purpose is to ensure that Aboriginal people enjoy the capabilities and opportunities necessary to make positive choices that lead to independent, fulfilling lives.
Wunan is proud to deliver the first Aboriginal community-controlled Low Medical Withdrawal Service in Kununurra, the first of its kind in Western Australia. The six-bed facility offers comprehensive assessments, treatment planning, and 24-hour residential support by experienced Mental Health clinicians.
Key Duties
To provide a supportive administration role to the health team, delivering a safe, healthy and culturally secure program for people staying with us at KWIC for alcohol or drug detox.
- Provide a welcoming reception service to all who either contact or enter the KWIC program
- Communicate effectively over telephone, email or face to face with KWIC team members and the Wunan Health GP clinic
- Adhere to all KWIC policies on confidentiality and privacy protection
- Participate in making bookings for treatment and arranging appointments
- Maintain written records, by use of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ensure our unit complies with work health and safety standards
Requirements of the role
Essential Criteria:
- Demonstrated capacity to participate with the staff team to provide a safe, culturally secure environment
- Previous experience with reception duties in a business environment
- Solid interpersonal skills to communicate effectively
- Ability to work in a team
Desirable criteria:
- Qualifications in administration
- Previous experience with alcohol and other drug withdrawal services
- Aboriginal Australian
- A strong understanding of Indigenous people in general and or the remote communities of the Kimberley’s.
Pre-employment requirements
- Satisfactory Criminal History Check (not older than 6 months)
- Current Working with children clearance
- Current Australian unrestricted ‘C’ class Driver’s license
