About the role

Mareeba Shire Council is assisting with the recruitment of a Visitor Information Centre Manager to join the team at the Kuranda Visitor Information Centre (KVIC). This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Visitor Information Centre, including managing the centre, supporting staff and volunteers, delivering high-quality visitor services, and ensuring operational objectives are achieved. The successful applicant will also work closely with the Mareeba Shire Tourism Executive Officer and assist with tourism marketing and promotion for Kuranda and the wider Mareeba Shire.

Key responsibilities

- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Kuranda Visitor Information Centre

- Recruit, induct, roster, train and support volunteers

- Ensure visitors receive friendly, accurate and efficient information and customer service

- Build strong relationships with tourism operators, businesses, community organisations and other stakeholders

- Assist with budgets, strategic planning, policies and procedures

- Manage administrative duties including cash handling, reconciliation,



accounts and correspondence

- Coordinate familiarisation visits for staff and volunteers

- Collect and report visitor statistics to support operational and strategic planning

- Assist with destination marketing for Kuranda and Mareeba Shire, including digital and print marketing

- Liaise with the regional Visitor Information Centre network

About you

- A current Queensland C Class Driver's Licence

- Experience delivering visitor information services

- Experience working in an environment with a robust focus on customer service

- Strong leadership and volunteer management skills

- Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills

- Sound financial management and administration experience

- A strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service

- Knowledge of the local and regional tourism industry, or the ability to quickly develop this knowledge

- An understanding of tourism and destination marketing, particularly across digital platforms
