Project Architect (Class 2 Specialist)

Meriton is seeking a highly experienced Project Architect to join our team in a permanent, full-time capacity.

This role is suited to an Associate-level architect with approximately 10 years’ experience, predominantly in Class 2 multi-residential buildings and a comprehensive understanding of current building legislation and compliance frameworks.

This is a rare opportunity to take full architectural responsibility for some of Australia’s largest and most complex residential developments — from post-DA approval through to completion — with a strong focus on construction documentation, coordination and compliance.

About the Role

The Project Architect holds overall responsibility for the architectural coordination and delivery of large-scale projects ranging from 500 to 1,000+ apartments, including high-rise and complex mixed-use developments.

You will lead an internal team of 2-4 architects while coordinating closely with external architects, consultants, contractors and approval authorities. This role requires exceptional technical leadership, legislative knowledge, and the ability to guide teams through complex compliance and documentation processes.

Depending on project scale, you may oversee one major development or two smaller concurrent projects.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage the full construction documentation process from post-DA to completion.

- Coordinate CC, Tender, IFC and major Building Approval submissions.

- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant legislation including the NCC, Australian Standards, planning controls and the DBP Act.





- Oversee architectural coordination across structural, civil, façade and building services disciplines.

- Integrate consultant designs with internal documentation teams to ensure seamless delivery.

- Lead multiple trade tender packages, including windows, metalwork, gyprock, electrical, waterproofing and other key trades.

- Manage project planning, programme alignment and internal resource allocation.

- Attend and document site meetings and provide technical direction during construction.

- Maintain alignment with Meriton Design Standards across all deliverables.

- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level architects within the team.

About You

You are a technically strong, commercially aware Associate-level Architect who thrives in high-responsibility environments and understands the complexities of large-scale Class 2 developments.

You will bring:

- Approximately 10 years’ architectural experience, predominantly and recently within Class 2 multi-residential buildings.

- Relevant qualification in Architecture (Registered Architects preferred but not essential).
- Demonstrated experience operating at Associate level within a consultancy or developer environment.

- Extensive knowledge of current building legislation, including NCC, DBP Act,



planning controls, and Australian Standards.

- Proven experience delivering large-scale projects (500+ units), including high-rise buildings.

- Strong experience managing Building Approval submissions and regulatory authority interactions.

- Advanced REVIT capability, with deep expertise in construction documentation.

- Experience coordinating structural and building services integration.

- Strong communication skills, with the ability to lead and influence internal and external stakeholders.

- The capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently when required.

- Architectural registration (preferred but not essential).
