At ESSSuper, we manage more than $40 billion in assets on behalf of over 122,000 members. As we continue to strengthen our investment capability and operational maturity, we are seeking an experienced Head of Investment Operations to lead this critical function.

The Chance

Reporting to the Chief Finance and Operations Officer, this newly created role will lead ESSSuper's end-to-end investment operations function and a small high-performing team.

Working closely with the Investment Strategy team, you will ensure the effective execution of investment activities while driving operational excellence, governance, risk management and continuous improvement. You will play a key role in building a scalable and resilient operating environment that supports the Fund's evolving investment strategy and growth.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the investment operations function across the investment lifecycle.
- Oversee investment manager onboarding, transitions and mandate changes.
- Manage liquidity, cash flows, unit pricing and valuation governance activities.
- Maintain oversight of custodians, investment managers and other service providers.
- Drive process improvement, automation and operational transformation initiatives.
- Strengthen operational controls and support compliance with APRA and ASIC requirements.
- Provide reporting and insights to Investment Committee,



Executive and Board stakeholders.
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team while fostering a collaborative and member-focused culture.

About You

You will bring:

- Significant investment operations experience gained within superannuation, asset management, custody or financial services.
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing operational teams.
- Strong knowledge of investment structures, public and private markets, derivatives, liquidity management, valuation and unit pricing.
- Experience working within a regulated environment and familiarity with APRA requirements and relevant ASIC guidance.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
- A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to drive operational change and deliver practical outcomes.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Commerce or Business.
- CFA, CA, CPA or similar professional qualifications will be highly regarded.
