About the role

The Director of Agriculture provides strategic and operational leadership for Agriculture across SCOTS PGC College. The Director is accountable for uplifting the quality, coherence, relevance and innovation of agricultural curriculum and co-curricular provision, while ensuring responsible oversight of animals, land, facilities, equipment, welfare, biosecurity and associated compliance. The Director will develop agriculture as a compelling pathway for students from wide-ranging backgrounds and as a point of distinction for enrolment, community engagement and regional leadership.

Key responsibilities

- Develop, implement and regularly review a multi-year Agriculture strategy aligned with the College's strategic priorities

- Establish an annual Agriculture operating plan covering curriculum, co-curricular activities, livestock, land and facilities, partnerships, workforce, events, finances, communications, risk and success measures

- Provide educational leadership and oversight of Agriculture curriculum across relevant year levels, including Agricultural Science and vocational or certificate pathways

- Work with the Director of Teaching, Learning & Innovation and teaching staff to map curriculum progression, remove unnecessary duplication and strengthen age-appropriate learning

- Lift teaching, assessment and practical-work quality through coaching, shared planning, moderation, professional learning and access to contemporary resources

- Provide strategic oversight of agricultural co-curricular offerings, including line management of the Head of Show Teams and other clubs or experiences approved by the College

- Hold overarching operational oversight for animals kept or used by the College, with documented responsibilities for daily care, weekends, holidays, emergencies and veterinary escalation

- Ensure animal welfare systems include appropriate schedules, records, supervision, checks of water, feed, health, fencing and shelter, and prompt response to illness, injury or infrastructure concerns





- Ensure Agriculture activities comply with applicable College policies, curriculum and training requirements, workplace health and safety obligations, animal welfare standards, biosecurity measures and livestock identification or movement requirements

- Build a purposeful network of producers, agribusinesses, alumni, training providers, universities, research organisations, professional bodies and community partners

About you

- Relevant tertiary qualification in Agriculture, Agricultural Science, Agribusiness, Education or a closely related field

- Demonstrated leadership in agricultural education, an agricultural enterprise, industry engagement, program management or a comparable setting

- Strong contemporary knowledge of agricultural systems and the ability to connect science, production, business, technology, sustainability and careers

- Capacity to lead across curriculum, co-curricular and operational environments and to turn strategy into practical, well-governed delivery

- Demonstrated commitment to animal welfare, student safety, biosecurity, ethical practice and responsible stewardship

- Highly developed communication, collaboration, planning, problem-solving and stakeholder-management skills

- Ability to work effectively with adolescents and to support a culture of student agency, responsibility, inclusion and aspiration

- Eligibility to hold a valid Working with Children authority and meet all relevant child-safeguarding requirements

- Hold, or be willing to undertake and successfully complete, the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

- A current driver's licence is required
