Ernabella Anangu School is a Birth to Year 12 Aboriginal school located in Pukatja Community on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands. Most children speak Pitjantjatjara as their first language and learn Standard Australian English as an additional language or dialect.

The school works in partnership with Anangu children, educators, families and community members to provide culturally responsive education. Strong relationships, play-based learning, cultural safety and high expectations are central to early-years teaching at Ernabella. The Preschool / Reception Teacher will plan and deliver an engaging, inclusive and developmentally appropriate program aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework, National Quality Standard and South Australian Curriculum. The program will use play, explicit and intentional teaching, exploration and culturally relevant experiences to develop children's language, literacy, numeracy, wellbeing and sense of identity. Working alongside Anangu educators, families and school staff, the teacher will observe and assess children's learning, respond to individual strengths and needs, and create a safe workplace in which every child feels known, valued and supported. The role will strengthen continuity between preschool and Reception and support children and families through a positive transition into school. The successful applicant will demonstrate strong early-years teaching practice, relationship-building skills, cultural responsiveness and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote Aboriginal community.



Experience teaching Aboriginal children or children learning English as an additional language or dialect would be highly regarded.
