Nature Play Coordinator and cafe front of house

The Nurso – Chandler, Brisbane

The Nurso is looking for a warm, creative and energetic Nature Play Coordinator and Café Front of House Team Member to lead engaging outdoor sessions for young children and provide friendly service to our café customers.

Our Nature Play program encourages children to explore, create, get messy and connect with the natural world. Activities may include gardening, sensory play, nature crafts, imaginative play, movement, stories and simple outdoor adventures.

This is a varied role combining the delivery of our Nature Play program with front-of-house café duties.

Nature Play responsibilities

- Planning and running fun, age-appropriate Nature Play sessions
- Welcoming families and creating a friendly, inclusive environment
- Setting up and packing down activities
- Developing fresh ideas using plants, natural materials and seasonal themes
- Keeping play areas clean, organised and protected
- Encouraging positive and respectful behaviour
- Communicating confidently with parents and caregivers
- Assisting with children's workshops, school-holiday activities and special events when required

Café Front of House responsibilities

- Welcoming customers and providing warm, attentive service
- Taking customer orders and processing payments
- Serving food, drinks and takeaway orders
- Running meals and clearing tables
- Keeping the café, tables and customer areas clean and presentable
- Assisting with opening duties and morning café preparation
- Helping customers with general enquiries
- Supporting the wider café and venue team when required

About you

- Genuinely enjoy working with young children and their families
- Are friendly, confident and comfortable interacting with customers
- Can lead groups and communicate clearly with parents and caregivers
- Are creative, playful, patient and reliable
- Enjoy being outdoors and aren't afraid of a little mess
- Can work independently and take ownership of the Nature Play program
- Are organised and able to move comfortably between different responsibilities
- Work well as part of a busy café and venue team
- Are available from 7:30am–9:30am, Monday to Friday

Experience in early childhood education, teaching, recreation, children's programs, art, gardening, outdoor education, hospitality or customer service would be highly regarded.

Requirements

- A current Working with Children Blue Card, or willingness to obtain one
- Availability to work at our Chandler location
- Previous experience working with children, outdoor activities or child-based learning
- Previous café, hospitality or customer-service experience is desirable
