About the Role

n

As a Lead Support Worker, you will play a key role in leading and supporting shifts within our Out of Home Care program and Residential Care homes. You will provide hands-on leadership, guide Support Workers, assist with decision-making, and model best practice in therapeutic and trauma-informed care.

n

Working with children and young people who may present with complex needs and behaviours, you will help create a safe,



stable and nurturing home environment while supporting the development of life skills, independence and positive outcomes.

n

This role operates across a 24/7 roster, and may include sleepovers, active nights, weekends, and public holidays.

n

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Lead shifts within a residential care setting
n
- Supporting children and young people in Out of Home Care homes
n
- Providing guidance, direction, and support to Support Workers
n
- Managing incidents and responding to behaviours of concern
n
- Ensuring accurate and timely documentation and reporting
n
- Supporting the implementation of care plans and therapeutic frameworks
n
- Acting as the key escalation point during shifts
n
- Promoting a safe, stable, and nurturing home environment
n

About You

n

You are an experienced Out of Home Care worker who can remain calm under pressure, lead by example and build positive relationships with both young people and colleagues.

n

You will ideally demonstrate:

n

n
- Experience working in residential care, out-of-home care, youth work, disability services or a related field
n
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches
n
- Confidence leading shifts and making sound decisions in dynamic environments
n
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
n
- The ability to manage complex situations and behaviours in a calm and consistent manner
n
- A genuine commitment to the safety, wellbeing and development of children and young people
n
- Experience supporting children and young people with complex needs and behaviours
n

Highly Regarded

n

n
- A Certificate IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention (or a higher relevant qualification)
n




- Demonstrated experience in a Lead Support Worker or similar senior position
n

n

Also considered:

n

Experienced Disability Support Workers or Out of Home Care Support Workers looking to take the next step into a leadership role and willing to undertake or transition into relevant qualifications.
