We believe in nurturing both the emotional and intellectual intelligence of every child, ensuring they are equipped not just academically, but also socially and emotionally, to thrive in an ever-changing world.About the RoleThe Head of Special Education Services (Primary) will work closely with school leaders, teachers, teacher aides, families and external agencies to strengthen inclusive practice, build staff capability and ensure effective processes are in place to identify and respond to student needs. The role will also contribute to the development of a consistent, whole-College approach to inclusion, while recognising the unique needs and opportunities of our Primary setting. Working within our diverse P-12 College, the successful applicant will provide strong instructional and strategic leadership in the delivery of high-quality, inclusive practices and support for students with diverse learning needs.We are looking for a leader who can build relationships, lead with purpose and influence positive change; someone who brings expertise in inclusive education alongside the ability to develop the capability of others and navigate complex educational and wellbeing contexts.Responsibilities include,



but not limited to:Lead and manage the Special Education Program and/or Early Childhood Development Program, ensuring the delivery of high-quality advice, support and targeted teaching for students with disability.Provide expert advice and guidance to school leadership, classroom teachers and staff to develop, plan and implement effective reasonable adjustments, interventions and inclusive practices for students with disability.Coordinate case management and specialist support, including intensive interventions, access to departmental and external services, professional development, and collaboration with relevant professionals to meet individual student needs.Develop and maintain effective systems, partnerships and processes to monitor student progress, manage disability data and compliance requirements, including the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD), while engaging parents, government agencies and community organisations.Contribute to strategic school leadership and resource management through participation in decision-making, career development, school planning and the effective management of human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources to achieve school goals.Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.How to applyPlease submit a brief resume including contact details for 2 referees (referees should have an understanding of your relevant work history); andA 2-page response to the 'How you will be assessed' section of the attached role description.We welcome all applicants to share any support needed to ensure our recruitment process is inclusive.Applicants need to be a current Queensland Government employee to be eligible to apply.This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Australia License.
