Good Food Distributors

Salamander Bay

Meat, Smallgoods, Cheese, Dairy & Frozen Foods

Newcastle, Hunter, Central Coast and Mid North Coast

An opportunity for an experienced foodservice salesperson to take ownership of a strong regional territory

Good Food Distributors is looking for an experienced foodservice sales professional who understands chefs, commercial kitchens and the importance of reliable supply.

This role would suit a territory manager, sales representative or account manager currently selling meat, smallgoods, cheese, dairy, seafood, frozen foods or related products into pubs, clubs, hotels, restaurants, hospitals, aged care facilities and other foodservice customers.

You may already be working for a foodservice distributor, meat or smallgoods supplier, dairy company, frozen‑food supplier or food manufacturer and be ready for greater autonomy, faster local decision‑making and the opportunity to make a visible impact.

About Valuable Food Distributors

For more than 30 years, Good Food Distributors has supplied chefs, hospitality venues, healthcare customers and retailers across regional New South Wales.

Our extensive range includes:

Premium meat and portion‑controlled products

Smallgoods

Cheese and dairy products

Seafood

Coffee and beverages

Boutique wines and spirits

As a locally owned distributor, we compete through responsive service, dependable deliveries, flexible solutions, quality products and genuine relationships with our customers.

Our representatives are supported by an experienced local team across purchasing, sales administration, warehouse and distribution.

About the opportunity

You will be responsible for managing and growing a defined foodservice territory, developing existing accounts and winning targeted new business.

A major focus will be increasing sales across our meat, smallgoods, cheese, dairy and frozen‑food categories.

Rather than selling from a catalogue, you will work directly with chefs, venue owners, food and beverage managers, procurement teams and healthcare buyers to understand their menus, volumes, specifications and operational requirements.

You will have the opportunity to offer customers a broad product solution backed by a locally based team that can respond quickly and help solve problems.

Your responsibilities

Manage and grow relationships with existing foodservice customers.

Identify and convert new business across pubs, clubs, hotels, restaurants, hospitals, aged care facilities, institutional kitchens and selected retailers.

Develop a structured prospect pipeline and maintain consistent follow‑up.

Work with chefs and buyers to recommend appropriate products, cuts, specifications, pack sizes and alternatives.

Conduct menu and range reviews to uncover opportunities across multiple product categories.

Prepare and follow up quotations, pricing proposals, samples and product presentations.

Negotiate commercially sound agreements that deliver value for customers and profitable growth for Good Food Distributors.

Introduce new products and coordinate tastings, trials and customer education.

Monitor competitor activity, local developments and changing customer requirements.

Maintain accurate customer, pipeline and sales activity information.

Work closely with purchasing, customer service, warehouse and delivery teams to provide a reliable customer experience.

Achieve agreed sales, gross‑profit and new‑account objectives.

What we are looking for

We are particularly interested in applicants with established experience selling foodservice products into commercial kitchens.

Ideally, you will bring:

Previous territory sales, account management or business development experience in foodservice.

Experience selling meat, smallgoods, cheese, dairy, frozen foods, seafood or related food products.

Strong relationships with chefs, venue owners, club managers, hospitality groups, healthcare buyers or foodservice procurement teams.

The ability to discuss cuts, specifications, yields, portion costs, pack sizes and menu applications with customers.

A demonstrated record of opening new accounts and growing existing customers.

A disciplined approach to territory planning, pipeline management, quoting and follow‑up.

Strong commercial awareness, including pricing, margin and customer profitability.

Confidence approaching prospective customers and converting business from established competitors.

The ability to work independently while contributing to a close local team.

We will also consider an experienced chef, butcher, hospitality supplier or food‑industry professional who has strong commercial relationships and a demonstrated ability to sell.

Why join Good Food Distributors?

Take ownership of an established regional foodservice territory.

Represent a broad range across meat, smallgoods, dairy, frozen, seafood, beverages and other foodservice categories.

Work for a privately owned local business where decisions can be made quickly.

Receive practical support from local purchasing, administration, warehouse and delivery teams.

Build genuine relationships with customers rather than operate in a rigid, highly transactional sales environment.

Competitive base salary plus superannuation.

Performance‑based sales incentive.

Fully maintained company vehicle.

Phone, tablet and other required tools of trade.

Staff discounts across our premium product range.

Opportunity to influence product ranges, customer solutions and the future growth of the territory.

Our culture

At Good Food Distributors, we:

Know our products and care about the food we sell.

Look after customers and follow through on our commitments.

Take ownership and help resolve problems.

Work across departments and support one another.

Remain practical, responsive and focused on continuous improvement.

Recognise and celebrate sales growth and customer wins.

Territory

The role will service customers across Newcastle, the Hunter, Central Coast and Mid North Coast.

The primary territory and customer focus may be tailored to the successful applicant’s location, foodservice experience and existing market relationships.

Remuneration

Competitive base salary + superannuation + company vehicle + performance incentive
