About Us

Annandale State School is a large school situated in the Townsville suburb of Annandale.

The suburb is located on the southern approaches to Townsville with the Ross River to our North and Lavarack Barracks to our South.

Our school is a large state primary school - prep to year 6, with approximately 750 students, in the heart of Annandale.

Your Opportunity

The Head of Department Student Engagement (locally referred to as Head of Department Student Engagement and Wellbeing), leads a small team of wellbeing professionals, teacher aides, and support staff to support student engagement, attendance, wellbeing and leads a coordinated response to triaging student behaviour support.

The Head of Department provides both proactive and reactive support,



including coaching and mentoring to staff, leading parent meetings, case management and ESFP management.

Responsibilities Include

- Provide leadership and guidance for the implementation of innovative measures aimed at improving student learning outcomes and attendance in schools where a significant percentage of students may have a disadvantaged background, ensuring quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Where requested, prepare all data returns for senior management.
- Monitor students' individual performance and behaviour and develop and implement intervention strategies where necessary.
- Communicate and work with parents, higher education institutes and State Schools Division to improve learning outcomes, student achievements and attendance.
