About The Role

The Advanced Skills Teacher (AST) is a senior teaching and leadership position responsible for delivering high-quality learning programs, assessing student progress, and supporting student achievement. The role also assists the Principal and Assistant Principal in curriculum development, educational planning, staff mentoring, resource management, and school improvement initiatives.

ASTs provide leadership beyond the classroom through pastoral care, extracurricular activities, professional development of teachers, and collaboration with parents and the wider community. The position requires exemplary teaching skills, robust leadership and communication abilities, a commitment to student wellbeing, and adherence to the Department's values of Connection, Courage, Growth, Respect, and Responsibility.

We are looking for

Essential

- Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) with a registration Status – Employment
- A registered teacher with full registration within the meaning of the Teachers Registration Act 2000.
- Qualifications as established by the Tasmanian Industrial Commission in the Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector) Award, 2005.

Desirable

- Four years or more training as defined in the Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector) Award 2005.
