Geo Civil Laboratories Pty Ltd t/as Geo Civil Laboratories is undertaking targeted recruitment of suitably qualified, Full time Civil Engineering Technicians to be a part of their established workforce in Gooburrum, QLD, 4670. With over 20 years of industry experience, the company is a trusted provider of construction materials testing services, specialising in concrete, soils, aggregates, and quarry materials for civil construction projects of all sizes. Geo Civil Laboratories delivers accurate, timely, and reliable test results, enabling clients to confidently manage site conditions and comply with Australian standards (AS/NZS).

These are permanent, Full-Time positions remunerated within the range of AUD $75,000 to $85,000 per annum plus superannuation, benchmarked against market salary rates and commensurate with the technical skill, experience, and accountability required for the position.

Scope of the role:

- Carry out field and laboratory testing of civil construction materials (soil, aggregate, concrete, asphalt) in accordance with Australian Standards, NATA scope of accreditation and project specifications.
- Collect samples and perform in office testing and inspections across construction sites, quarries and remote locations, recording accurate field data and maintaining chain-of-custody and sample traceability.
- Analyse test data, perform calculations,



and prepare and check technical reports outlining results, compliance status and recommendations before release.
- Contribute to site classification and pavement investigation reporting in accordance with project requirements.
- Set up, calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory and field testing equipment, and manage verification and calibration schedules to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
- Interpret project specifications and testing requirements, select and apply the correct methods, and coordinate daily testing schedules to meet project turnaround times.
- Identify non-conforming materials or test results, report findings and support corrective actions and continuous improvement of testing methods.
- Maintain testing and inspection records with full traceability under the Quality Management System, and support NATA and internal audits and the upkeep of procedures and technical registers.
- Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to junior technicians to maintain consistent testing standards and data integrity.
- Liaise with clients, contractors and site personnel on testing outcomes and site requirements, and work in accordance with WHS requirements, SWMS, JSA and site safety procedures.

Skills and Experience Required:

- A relevant AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (e.g. Laboratory Technology, Civil or Geotechnical Engineering) consistent with ANZSCO Skill Level 2; or at least three years of relevant experience in construction materials testing.




- At least 2-3 years' hands‑on experience testing civil construction materials (concrete, soil, aggregate, asphalt) across laboratory and field environments.
- Sound working knowledge of Australian Standards (AS/NZS), NATA requirements and quality management systems, with strong attention to detail and data integrity.
- Proficiency in operating, calibrating and troubleshooting laboratory and field testing equipment.
- Ability to provide technical guidance to junior technicians and maintain consistent testing standards.
- Competence in MS Excel and electronic data management, with disciplined documentation and reporting.
- Professional communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, site personnel and internal teams.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety, including compliance with SWMS, JSA and site safety procedures.
- Physically fit for duty and able to safely perform regular manual handling and field work.
- A current Australian driver's licence; the role involves regular travel and periods working away from the base facility.
