Overnewton Anglican Community College is seeking an exceptional educational leader to join as Head of Learning Middle School effective April 2027 or earlier by negotiation.

This is a significant leadership opportunity for a highly accomplished educator who is passionate about curriculum innovation, contemporary pedagogy, staff development, and improving student outcomes.

Reporting to the Director of Teaching and Learning, the Head of Learning Middle School will provide strategic and operational leadership of teaching and learning across Years 5-8, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement.

About the Role

The Head of Learning Middle School plays a critical role in leading curriculum, assessment, feedback, professional learning and student academic growth throughout the Middle School. The position is a 3-year contract, with ongoing tenure at the College as a teacher.

You will work closely with the Head of Middle School, Academic Executive, Heads of Faculty and teaching teams to drive high-quality learning experiences and strengthen a culture of evidence-informed practice.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and promote a culture of academic excellence, high expectations and continuous improvement across the Middle School.
- Drive strategic initiatives in curriculum, pedagogy,



assessment and student learning growth across Years 5-8.
- Oversee curriculum planning, implementation, review, mapping and reporting to ensure alignment with the Victorian Curriculum and College priorities.
- Lead the effective use of assessment, feedback and student achievement data to improve learning outcomes and monitor student progress.
- Manage Middle School curriculum and assessment processes, including reporting and Compass administration.
- Coordinate and oversee standardised assessment programs, including NAPLAN, PAT, ICAS and other relevant testing.
- Build teacher capability through instructional coaching, mentoring, professional learning and evidence-based teaching practices.
- Support the implementation of contemporary learning approaches.
- Lead, develop and support faculty heads, coordinators and year-level leaders to achieve strategic and operational goals.
- Foster a collaborative professional learning culture that strengthens collective efficacy and staff engagement.
- Contribute to College-wide strategic planning, innovation, change management and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with academic and operational leaders to ensure seamless student transitions and a consistent learning experience across the College.
