The position is accountable to the Director of the Division of Surgery and Specialty Services, through the Department Head, for the provision of high-quality care to patients in the wards, investigational and procedural areas, emergency department and outpatients.

Key responsibilities

- The position also involves teaching registrars, junior medical officers, and medical students, and to be involved in research and audit work as required, including monthly Journal Club, attend weekly unit and combined general surgery meetings.
- Provide a high-quality clinical service under the direction of the Director of General Surgery and Specific General Surgery, and the Head of Unit.




- Providing appropriate clinical care to patients and coordinating follow up of patients for review under the care of the unit or referred to the unit (in particular ensuring timely review and management of patients referred by the Emergency Department).
- Ensuring effective communication with other care providers to promote continuity of patient care.

What you need

- The role includes private assisting and a research component.
- Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, registrable with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration.
- High level skills in problem solving and decision making.
