Circle Green Community Legal (Circle Green) is an independent, not-for-profit community legal centre providing statewide specialist services in humanitarian, family and domestic violence, residential tenancy, and workplace law. ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Senior Lawyer with extensive migration law expertise to provide complex legal advice, representation, casework assistance, and advocacy across a range of migration matters. Reporting to the Principal Lawyer and as a senior member of the team, this role will provide leadership, mentoring, and supervision to lawyers, restricted lawyers and paralegals fostering a collaborative and high-performing legal practice.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

- Lead and empower a high-performing team to deliver high-quality, client-centred services, fostering a supportive, learning-focused setting built on collaboration and mutual respect.
- Supervise the provision of expert legal advice on complex humanitarian and migration law matters, promoting excellence, accountability, and ethical practice.
- Oversee the Intake and Triage function on a rotational basis, including reviewing triage matters, assessing new client intake, and monitoring client assessment processes.
- Participate in regular file review meetings, provide caseload and service delivery reports to the Principal Lawyer.




- Contribute to the strategic development of legal services by identifying emerging client and community legal needs, ensuring compliance with organisational policies, funding requirements, and professional standards.
- Develop and promote community legal education initiatives.

ABOUT YOU

Essential Criteria

- Undergraduate degree in Law.
- At least 5+ years of post-admission experience.
- Unrestricted practising certificate (or ability to obtain prior to commencement).
- Demonstrated expertise in humanitarian, migration, or refugee law.
- Proven experience in leading teams and managing complex caseloads.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice.
- Ability to think strategically, influence effectively, and act with courage under pressure.
