Data Scientist - Fixed Term Contract

Position Overview

The Data Scientist is responsible for rectifying master data issues, testing data and NLP solutions, and supporting the engineering team to implement NLP techniques in real-time systems. The role combines data-quality expertise, advanced testing capability and practical NLP knowledge to improve the accuracy, consistency and reliability of data-driven products.

Key Accountabilities

- Investigate and rectify master data issues, including duplicates, inaccurate records, inconsistent values, missing information and broken relationships.
- Define data-quality rules, remediation approaches and controls with data owners and business stakeholders.
- Profile datasets and identify root causes of data-quality issues across source systems and integrations.
- Design and execute comprehensive testing for data pipelines, remediation processes, NLP models, APIs and real-time system integrations.
- Develop test cases, test data, validation criteria and regression test suites, and document defects and outcomes clearly.
- Apply NLP techniques such as entity extraction, classification, similarity matching and language models to improve data processing and quality.
- Work closely with engineers to translate NLP concepts into reliable, scalable and maintainable real-time implementations.
- Evaluate NLP outputs for accuracy, latency, robustness, explainability, privacy and suitability for production use.
- Coordinate priorities,



decisions and remediation activities with data owners, engineers, subject-matter experts and other stakeholders.

Experience and qualifications

- Tertiary qualification in data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, artificial intelligence or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Experience rectifying master data and data-quality issues across multiple systems or datasets.
- Experience designing and executing structured testing for data pipelines, APIs, machine learning models or real-time systems.
- Practical experience applying NLP techniques to business or operational data.
-Experience working with engineers and stakeholders to deliver production-ready data or analytics solutions.
-Experience handling sensitive information in accordance with privacy, security and governance requirements.
