Position Overview
The Assistant Director Web and Intranet Services manages and oversees the Courts’ and Tribunal’s websites, intranets and related digital applications on behalf of Communications. The role ensures digital content and services are accessible, secure, user-focused and aligned with Australian Government policies, standards and best practice. Reporting to the Director Communications, the position leads a small team of digital professionals and engages with senior court and tribunal executives on digital priorities, digital projects, governance and service improvements.
The team’s work encompasses both BAU operations and project delivery, balancing the ongoing maintenance, support and continuous improvement of the Courts’ and Tribunal’s digital platforms with the planning and implementation of enhancements and new capabilities.
The position develops web and intranet strategies, initiatives and improvements as well as developing long term replacement strategies for both websites and intranets in conjunction with stakeholders, communications and IT professionals. They are responsible for leading the planning and delivery of web and intranet enhancements to ensure solutions meet nominated requirements and user needs, and management of all projects in alignment with budgets and timing in conjunction with any nominated project manager.
The key duties of the position include:
- Oversee and contribute to the delivery of digital content and platform administration, providing expert advice and hands-on support where required.
- Establish and maintain digital governance, operational processes, publishing and quality assurance practices that support the delivery of high-quality digital content and service
- Lead the planning and delivery of web and intranet enhancements, ensuring solutions meet business requirements and user needs; and, for larger initiatives, act as the business lead, working closely with project managers, vendors and technical specialists to deliver successful project outcomes.
- Manage contracts, procurement activities and vendor performance ensuring value for money and delivery of contracted services.
- Provide authoritative advice on digital publishing, accessibility, content design, content governance, search optimisation and digital service delivery.
- Monitor emerging technologies, digital trends and developments in artificial intelligence, assessing opportunities and risks and providing advice on their potential application to websites, intranets within the role's area of responsibility.

Selection Criteria
1. Digital platform leadership and governance
- Demonstrated experience managing and continuously improving websites, intranets and associated digital applications, including substantial experience with Squiz DXP and familiarity with GovCMS,
or similar content management systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Australian Government digital policies, standards and best practice, including accessibility, content design, information architecture, search optimisation and content governance principles.
- Experience establishing and maintaining operational processes, governance and standards that ensure digital services are secure, accessible, compliant, reliable and user focused.
- Understanding of emerging digital technologies and trends, including the opportunities and risks associated with artificial intelligence in digital service delivery.
2. Leadership and people management
- Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and management experience in a high-volume workplace , including balancing competing priorities, allocating resources effectively, managing workloads, and fostering capability development.
3. Strategic thinking, judgement and continuous improvement
- Highly developed analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgement in a complex operating environment.
- Proven ability to use data, analytics, user insights and business requirements to inform strategic decisions and drive continuous improvement in digital services.
4. Project, procurement and contract management
- Demonstrated experience managing and coordinating the delivery of digital enhancements and service improvements, including working with specialist project managers, vendors and technical specialists to implement solutions that meet business and user needs.
- Proven experience managing vendors, contracts and procurement activities, including monitoring performance, managing risks and achieving value-for-money outcomes.

Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in digital management, information technology, information management or a related discipline, and/or extensive experience managing digital platforms and services.
- Experience in the legal or justice sector and government experience will be highly regarded.

Eligibility
Employment with the Court is subject to the conditions prescribed in the Public Service Act 1999, and the following:
1. Australian citizenship – the successful applicant must hold Australian citizenship.
2. Security and character clearance – the successful applicant must satisfy a Police Records Check and may also be required to complete security clearances during the course of their employment.
3. Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.
