The Role

- Reporting to the Validation Manager, the Validation Officer works closely with technical leads and assurance personnel to review evidence, identify assurance gaps and trends, conduct shipbuilding process audits, and support assurance reporting across shipbuilding activities.
- Review Objective Quality Evidence (OQE), construction records and technical documentation for completeness, accuracy and traceability.
- Assess construction progress against assurance requirements, identifying evidence gaps, risks and emerging issues.
- Validate that assurance findings, assessments and Statements of Assurance are supported by sufficient objective evidence.
- Review corrective actions, technical issues, non-conformances and supporting evidence to verify effective closure.
- Lead or participate in internal process audits and assurance reviews.
- Identify, document and escalate technical, assurance, compliance and documentation risks.
- Support assurance reporting through the preparation of status updates, metrics, dashboards and progress reports.
- Maintain accurate validation records, assurance documentation and evidence repositories.
- Collaborate with technical leads and assurance personnel to support evidence-based assurance outcomes.

About our Team
Naval Construction Branch (NCB) is accountable for the assurance of ship construction, set-to work and transit of vessels constructed at the Osborne Naval Shipyard and Henderson precinct.



We have branches in Osborne SA and Henderson WA, as well as a smaller presence in Port Macquarie, NSW. NCB is furthering continuous naval shipbuilding and growing sovereign capability by overseeing the construction to ensure quality and standards are met, storing lessons learnt and developing standard shipbuilding procedures for construction.

NCB will oversee the construction of many different Navy vessels including Offshore Patrol Vessels, Hunter Class Frigates, Young Endeavour, Evolved Cape Class and Pacific Patrol Boats. Working at NCB will enable you to be at the grassroots of continuous naval shipbuilding, where you are part of a working shipyard, being able to see and contribute to the vessels delivered and used in service by Navy.

- Robust understanding of Technical management systems and auditing principles.
- Excellent analytical and review skills for technical documentation.

- Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Understanding of accreditation frameworks and risk-based assessment methodologies.
