Starting Rate: $37.62 per hour base rate, plus 43.45% shift loading, providing a total starting rate of $53.97 per hour for all rostered hours.

About Us

Alpine MDF Industries is a large wood-based processing facility located in Wangaratta, North-East Victoria, providing permanent employment for more than 150 local people.

Alpine’s core business is manufacturing medium-density fibreboard (MDF) for use across the construction and related industries, with products distributed and sold nationally. Complementing this core business, Alpine MDF operates a value-adding facility on the same site, where MDF products are reprocessed into specific building products, including pre-painted skirting, architraves, door and window components, and decorative wall-lining panels.

About the Role

We are seeking a trade-qualified electrician to join our team. Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Supervisor, you will apply your technical knowledge and hands-on experience to the day-to-day maintenance of electrical plant and equipment. This role supports the site’s production teams by improving reliability, completing preventive maintenance programs across production areas, minimising plant downtime and improving operational efficiency.

This is a full-time position working 12-hour shifts on a four-week rotating roster that operates across seven days;

- Four-week rotating shift roster cycle
- Two weekends off in every four
- Average of 42 hours per week, alternating between 36-hour and 48-hour weeks
- Engineering tradesperson competency classification: C10 – C6, depending on qualifications and experience

Responsibilities include:

- Working in a team environment to resolve day-to-day maintenance issues, optimise resources and minimise downtime;
- Providing technical support to both maintenance and production personnel;
- Carrying out preventative maintenance and continuous improvement tasks;




- Diagnosing faults in electrical equipment and completing the required repairs;
- Performing breakdown maintenance;
- Prioritising, planning and organising tasks;
- Following applicable industry standards and site procedures;
- Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to safe systems of work.

To be successful in the role:

- Trade-qualified electrician with a Victorian A Grade Electrical Licence;
- Allen-Bradley PLC Programming capability, or a willingness to undertake further training; advancement courses are available.
- Advanced fault-finding skills in control circuitry and practical PLC fault-finding capability;
- Working knowledge of Allen-Bradley, ABB, and SEW variable-frequency drives;
- High-voltage switching operator qualification, or a willingness to obtain it;
- Operational knowledge of SCADA systems, including Wonderware;
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings;
- Sound knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements in a manufacturing setting;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Ability to work with minimal supervision;
- Current CPR and first aid certification, or willingness to obtain it;
- Industrial experience is preferred; experience in the wood-based panel industry is desirable but not essential.
