The Opportunity

We’re seeking an experienced and motivated marketing and communications professional to join our team as Manager Marketing and Communications on a fixed-term basis to provide maternity leave coverage (fourteen months).

This is a diverse leadership role with responsibility for GCT’s marketing, communications, brand, digital engagement, events and stakeholder engagement activities. You will lead the Marketing and Communications function, providing strategic advice and translating organisational priorities into effective campaigns, projects and engagement initiatives.

Your day will involve leading marketing and communications activities, managing GCT’s brand and external communications, overseeing digital channels and campaigns, building relationships with key stakeholders, and supporting organisational and community initiatives. You will also lead and develop employees within the Marketing and Communications function and work closely with the Executive Leadership Team.

Remuneration and Benefits

The current hourly rate for this position is $51.52 per hour, with annual wage increases provided in accordance with the Geelong Cemeteries Trust Enterprise Agreement.

This is a full-time position with ordinary hours of 7:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will lead GCT’s Marketing and Communications function, helping to strengthen our brand, engage our communities and support the delivery of key organisational priorities. Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

- Lead the development and delivery of GCT’s marketing and communications strategies, plans and campaigns

- Manage and strengthen GCT’s brand across marketing, communications, digital and promotional activities

- Oversee GCT’s digital presence, including website, social media and other online communication channels

- Provide strategic marketing, communications and reputational advice to the Executive Leadership Team

- Lead external communications and media activities, including public messaging and responses to emerging issues

- Develop and maintain strong relationships with community groups, government agencies, industry partners and other key stakeholders

- Lead marketing, communications and stakeholder engagement for significant organisational projects, initiatives and events

- Provide leadership and direction to the Marketing and Communications team, including employee development and performance

- Manage the Marketing and Communications work program, budget, resources and external service providers

- Monitor the effectiveness of marketing and engagement activities and identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement

About You

We are seeking an experienced marketing and communications professional who brings strong leadership, strategic thinking and sound professional judgement to their work. Ideally, you will demonstrate the following:

- A tertiary qualification in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or an equivalent qualification (essential)

- A current and valid Victorian Driver Licence (essential)

- Demonstrated experience in a management-level marketing, communications or public relations role





- Strong experience developing and implementing organisational marketing and communications strategies, plans and campaigns

- Demonstrated leadership capability, including supervising, supporting and developing employees

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide high-quality strategic advice and communicate effectively across a range of audiences

- Robust stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with government, community, industry and other stakeholders

- Experience managing significant projects, competing priorities, budgets and external service providers

- Sound professional judgement and the ability to confidently navigate complex, sensitive and reputational matters.
