About the Role

Reporting to the Executive General Manager Customer Experience, Governance & Risk, the Head of Government Relations & Ministerial Engagement will play a pivotal role in shaping Seqwater’s enterprise strategy, driving integrated performance and building trusted relationships across government.

Leading a broad portfolio spanning corporate strategy, planning, enterprise reporting and performance, government relations, ministerial engagement, strategic intelligence and foresight, you will translate strategic priorities into organisational capability, meaningful outcomes and community value.

Key accountabilities will include:

- Shape Seqwater’s enterprise strategy, strategic priorities and performance targets, ensuring alignment with customer, government and regulatory requirements.
- Lead government relations and ministerial engagement, building trusted relationships with Ministers, government departments, elected representatives and senior stakeholders.
- Deliver high-quality enterprise reporting to the Board, Executive and Shareholding Ministers, supporting transparency,



accountability and informed decision-making.
- Provide strategic intelligence and insights on water industry, government and political developments, identifying implications for Seqwater’s priorities and operations.
- Oversee strategic planning, stakeholder intelligence, ESG and relevant governance frameworks to support enterprise performance and manage risk.
- Lead the development and coordination of ministerial communications, including Parliamentary Estimates hearings, Parliamentary Preparatory Questions and Questions on Notice.
- Build a high-performing, collaborative and values-led team, strengthening capability, accountability and engagement across the function.

About You

You will be an accomplished senior government relations and strategy professional with significant experience operating in complex, highly regulated environments. You will bring a strong understanding of Queensland Government policy, processes and the political landscape, ideally gained within the utilities or infrastructure sectors.

You will bring:

- Significant experience in government relations, including direct engagement with Ministerial offices.
- Demonstrated leadership in enterprise strategy,



strategic planning and integrated performance reporting.
- A robust understanding of Queensland Government and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder and political environments.
- Proven experience building and sustaining trusted relationships across State and Local Government and with diverse senior stakeholders.
- Experience in ESG policy, corporate governance and linking risk management to strategy and performance.
- The strategic judgement, communication skills and influence to represent Seqwater’s interests with authority and credibility.

Your leadership style will be collaborative, visible and accountable. You will be adept at translating complex issues into clear advice, influencing across organisational boundaries and handling difficult messages with confidence. You will bring the ability to align diverse interests, create clarity and build trust while maintaining a strong focus on Seqwater’s people, customers and communities.

A relevant degree qualification in business, commerce, economics, political science, public policy or administration, public affairs or government is highly desirable.
