Are you an early riser who enjoys hands-on work in a fast-paced environment? We are seeking reliable and motivated Hatchery Assistants to join our team in Mulgrave. This casual position plays an important role in supporting hatchery operations and maintaining the highest standards of animal care, quality, and hygiene. Responsibilities include sorting and grading eggs, preparing eggs for incubation, operating automated equipment, and assisting with hatchery cleaning and sanitation processes.

Please note this role requires a 4:45 am arrival to complete the site's shower-in process before commencing work.

This position operates on a rotating 7-day roster , with schedules provided in advance. Flexibility to work weekends and varying rostered days is essential.

Key Responsibilities

- Sort and grade eggs and day-old poultry.
- Handle and grade fertile duck eggs for hatching.
- Safely operate modern automated hatchery equipment.
- Assist with hatchery processes and treatments.
- Load and pack eggs and ducklings for local transport.
- Clean and sanitise incubators, hatchers and hatchery equipment.




- Participate in training programs and support quality assurance activities.
- Undertake other duties as directed by the Hatchery Manager.

- Ability to follow procedures and maintain high hygiene standards.
- Adaptable and available to work across a rotating 7-day roster, including weekends.
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Previous experience in agriculture, food production, manufacturing or a similar environment is advantageous but not essential.
