About The Role
We are seeking a motivated Assistant Accountant to join our team. This is a part time role (4 days a week) with potential to transition into full-time role based in Australia, with some on-site work and travel as required.
As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a key role in managing Skeiny’s day-to-day finance operations while driving continuous improvement across systems and processes. You’ll ensure strong financial controls, maintain data integrity, and support compliance with Australian regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Own end-to-end monthly payroll in Xero, including timesheet inputs, pay run preparation, system integrity, and compliance with statutory and internal requirements.
Lead project setup, configuration, and ongoing management across Xero and Harvest, ensuring accurate time and cost tracking aligned with financial processes.
Oversee the full client invoicing lifecycle, including billable work tracking, expense recovery, invoice issuance, system maintenance, and continuous improvement of billing workflows and controls.
Take full ownership of Xero financial management,
including accounts payable and receivable, budgeting, reconciliations, and statutory reporting.
Prepare and deliver monthly financial reports (P&L;, Balance Sheet, Cashflow, forecasting, and insights) to support informed strategic decision-making.
Ensure strong financial governance through expense management, continuous system and process improvement, ATO compliance (BAS, GST, PAYG), and accurate tax reporting and lodgement.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with CPA Australia or CA ANZ (or working toward certification) and strong knowledge of Australian taxation, ATO reporting, and financial compliance.
- Proven experience in financial reporting, tax preparation, and reconciliations, with advanced use of Xero and financial systems.
- Experience with Harvest time tracking and project financial management highly regarded.
- Proficiency in PowerBI and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint) with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to learn quickly, adapt, and innovate
- Ability to work effectively in a virtual team environment (proactive, communicative, transparent with outputs), maintainingrespectful and professional interactions with management, administrative staff, and consultantsat all times.
