Part time Optical Assistant Specsavers Grafton

We're seeking a friendly, motivated Optical Assistant to join our Grafton team. In this front‑line role, you'll be responsible for ensuring every patient receives a seamless, positive experience—from the moment they walk in to the moment they leave with their new spectacles or contact lenses. You'll work closely with our optometrists and optical dispensers to deliver eye care solutions, maintain our retail space, and contribute to achieving our store goals.

Australian work rights are required for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

Greet patients and visitors in a warm, professional manner.

Assist patients in selecting frames, lenses and accessory add-ons that best suit their lifestyle and prescription needs.

Process sales transactions accurately using the in-store Point of Sale (POS) system.

Answer phone and email enquiries promptly, scheduling appointments and fielding general questions about products and services.

Measure and fit frames to ensure optimum comfort and performance.

Take basic measurements (PD, working distance) for lens ordering.

Perform small adjustments and repairs on frames.

Receive,



unpack and organise frame and lens deliveries; maintain accurate stock levels and merchandising standards.

Full training will be provided as previous optical industry experience is not essential for this role.

Clinical Support

Prepare patients for eye examinations (pre-test screening, history taking).

Record and file patient details, ensuring strict confidentiality.

Sterilise equipment and maintain a clean, hygienic patient area.

Assist optometrists during clinical procedures when required.

Assist the Audio department with Screenings and Customer enquiries

Store Presentation & Administration

Keep the dispensary and retail area tidy, neat, and visually appealing.

Restock brochures, signage, and promotional materials.

Participate in monthly inventory counts and manage stock rotation.

Support marketing initiatives and community outreach events (e.g., local health fairs, school screenings).

Work closely with optometrists, optical dispensers, store management and other team members to meet daily KPIs and long-term objectives.

Contribute to a positive, supportive work environment—sharing knowledge, helping colleagues, and maintaining open communication.
