Immediate Care is seeking a reliable, respectful and experienced Disability Support Worker to provide individualised support to an NDIS participant living in Ararat. The participant is an adult with an above-knee amputation who requires assistance with daily living, mobility and community participation. We are looking for a worker who can build a positive and professional working relationship while supporting the participant to maintain independence, choice and control.
Key responsibilities
- Assistance with daily living activities and routines
- Mobility support and assistance associated with physical disability
- Supporting protected access within the home and community
- Community access, appointments, shopping and social activities
- Assistance with household tasks where required
- Encouraging independence and supporting the participant to work towards their NDIS goals
- Providing respectful, person-centred support
- Maintaining appropriate progress notes and documentation
- Communicating with the participant and relevant members of their support team
- Following the participant's support plan, risk assessments and Immediate Care policies and procedures
About you
- Respectful, patient and dependable
- Comfortable supporting a person with a physical disability and mobility needs
- Inclusive and respectful of people from diverse backgrounds, identities and lifestyles
- Able to maintain professional boundaries while developing a genuine and positive working relationship
- Confident supporting community participation and independence
- A good communicator who listens to and respects the participant's choices and preferences
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working with Children Check, where applicable
- Current First Aid and CPR
