DEMI CHEF - The Palms

Located on Hamilton Island, The Palms offers a menu focused on smoked meats and grill items, with chefs working hands‑on in a busy outdoor kitchen environment.

We're looking for a qualified Demi Chef who enjoys working with the grill, is comfortable around high heat and is ready to continue developing their culinary career. This is a physically demanding role in a hot, outdoor workplace, so you'll need to be comfortable working in these conditions throughout service.

What you'll be doing

You'll work hands‑on across preparation and service, with a strong focus on smoked meats and grill items. You'll support your section, prepare and cook dishes consistently to standard and work closely with the wider kitchen team to keep service moving during busy periods.





The kitchen operates in an outdoor environment where you'll be working around grills and significant heat, so you'll need the stamina, organisation and attitude to perform consistently in hot conditions.

What we're looking for

- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (Essential)
- Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen
- Grill experience and confidence cooking meats highly regarded
- Comfortable working around grills in a hot, outdoor kitchen environment
- Ability to work efficiently and maintain consistency during busy service
- Strong teamwork, organisation and attention to detail
- A positive attitude and desire to continue developing your culinary career
