Where you'll be working

Join the Alternate Care Clinic (ACC) at Mount Druitt Hospital, a specialist community mental health team providing comprehensive, highly specialised care to children and young people aged 0–18 in out-of-home care. You’ll work within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment focused on improving outcomes for young people with complex mental health and trauma-related needs.

Deliver specialist care for children and young people with complex and chronic mental health needs, trauma and attachment difficulties.

Work collaboratively with carers, government and non-government services to coordinate care around the child or young person.

Contribute to a service committed to innovation, professional development, research and continuous improvement.

What you'll be doing

As Clinical Lead,



you’ll provide district-wide clinical leadership and coordination while contributing to direct psychiatric and therapeutic interventions, complex case consultation and systemic support. Your expertise in trauma, attachment and systemic intervention will help strengthen outcomes for children, young people and their support networks.

Lead and coordinate safe, effective and evidence-supported clinical care within the ACC.

Provide complex case consultation and specialist clinical guidance across multidisciplinary and service networks.

Lead clinical governance, quality improvement, service development and evaluation initiatives.

Support education, training and capability development for carers and key stakeholders across the out-of-home care system.

Contribute to research, policy development and cutting-edge interventions across ACC, PCYMHS and WSLHD.

License: NSW Drivers License

Qualification: Accredited post-graduate Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology with full endorsement; Bachelor Degree in Social Work OR Occupational Therapy.

Registration in line with Award requirements: Demonstrated full registration with AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist or Psychologist or eligibility to be a member of the AASW as a social worker

Selection Criteria

Demonstrated extensive leadership and management skills including interpersonal, communication,



negotiation and influencing skills ability to lead the local implementation of strategic and organisational priorities and deliver multiple outcomes within tight timeframes while maintaining a high standard of service.

Demonstrated extensive experience in working therapeutically with children and young people with significant behavioural, emotional, mental health and/or psychosocial difficulties.

Demonstrated clinical experience working with children or adolescents in out-of-homecare and/or the child protection system.

Demonstrated specialised knowledge in areas such as trauma, attachment and systemic interventions including family therapy and an awareness of evidenced based therapies such as TF-CBT, DBT, EMDR.

Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and with other service providers to achieve optimal outcomes for children, young people and their families.

Demonstrated capacity to provide consultation, supervision and training to other professionals including more junior health professionals and students.
