As the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapy - Surgical Stream, you will drive excellence in patient‑centred care, lead quality improvement and service development initiatives, support workforce capability through education and mentoring, and promote evidence‑informed practice and research translation.

The Team

The Occupational Therapy Service includes over 90 team members consisting of occupational therapists and assistants, play specialists, diversional therapists, carpenter, and administration officers. We work across acute, sub‑acute and community settings, including the Royal Hobart Hospital, the largest teaching Hospital in Tasmania. The Role

This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to provide clinical leadership within a dynamic surgical inpatient service. As the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapy - Surgical Stream, you will drive excellence in patient‑centred care, lead quality improvement and service development initiatives, support workforce capability through education and mentoring, and promote evidence‑informed practice and research translation. Working closely with the Occupational Therapy Leadership Team and multidisciplinary teams, you will provide advanced clinical expertise, influence models of care, contribute to policy and procedure development, and support the delivery of safe, effective,



and efficient occupational therapy services for patients with complex surgical and acute care needs.

You will need

Excellent leadership, change management, communication, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills with a demonstrated high level of conceptual and analytical skills and a proven ability to be influential and credible to a range of professional people and consumers to effectively lead change.

Extensive and current clinical knowledge, skills and experience as a practicing Occupational Therapist in the relevant clinical area/s with the ability to provide authoritative technical and policy advice and develop, implement and evaluate policies, procedures and guidelines.

Details of appointment

Fixed part time, day worker position, working 44 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 8 October 2027.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

$131,122 to $138,984 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

- Salary range is in accordanc e with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

- Please note that access to salaries beyond $135,445 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:





- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1200 per annum, paid on a fortnightly, pro rata basis.

- Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
- Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Occupational Board of Australia

- Postgraduate studies in Occupational Therapy, Public Health, health service leadership or research experience.
