Your responsibilitiesAs the Principal Finance Officer, you will:Manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions using the Departmental financial management systems; with due regard to compliance with relevant government legislation, directives and accounting standards, Departmental financial policies and procedures, Queensland Treasury financial reporting requirements, other relevant technical pronouncements as well as Federal and State taxation requirements.Oversee, monitor and provide high level financial advice regarding the accounts payable, account receivable and associated accounting practices, and provide transactional support to facilitate the department 's compliance with the On Time Payment Policy requirements for small and family businesses.Manage processes around transactional coding, ledger integrity, debt management, asset management and integrated receipting bank reconciliations in support of business units.Manage the end of month and year-end financial requirements for the Transactional Team in conjunction with other areas of Corporate Finance and the Department's Shared Services Provider.Monitor and provide insights and recommendations to business units via regular reports to management which include aged debts, bank reconciliations, on time vendor payments information and other ad hoc reporting.Undertake emerging activities, and address scope and business process changes, that respond to and support the evolving needs and objectives of the department as a result of changes to departmental priorities, systems transitions/upgrades, business realignments or machinery of government changes,Exercise sound judgement in terms of delegated authority and organisational sensitivity,



whilst at all times being responsive to changing needs.Lead and manage the Transactional team, participate as an active member of the Management Leadership Team and support the General Manager (Chief Finance Officer) and Executive Leadership Team in delivering departmental priorities.To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:Highly skilled in financial accounting processes and expert knowledge of the financial framework underpinning Queensland Government agencies (eg Financial Accountability Act 2009 and Financial and Performance Management Standard 2019).Specialist knowledge and demonstrated operational experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial accounting, assets and related financial systems.Strong leadership skills and the ability to apply them in managing the daily operations of a team focused on providing a high-quality, responsive and customer-centred service to clients.Flexibility, adaptability and agility to operate in environments of change, uncertainty and ambiguity.A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities, solve problems and drive effective financial and business outcomes.Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate and present complex financial information clearly.Develop and maintain solid collaborative relationships with stakeholders to promote accountability, integrity and innovation.In addition, this role requires the leadership capabilities of a Team Leader as outlined in the Leadership competencies for Queensland booklet.Applications to remain current for 12 monthsThis work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Australia License. #J-18808-Ljbffr
