Are you an experienced regulatory professional with stronglegislative, compliance and stakeholder management skills?

We are seeking a Senior Advisor – Not for Profits tojoin NSW Fair Trading. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role insupporting the effective regulation of Incorporated Associations, Co-operatives,Charities and other not-for-profit entities across Recent South Wales.

This role will provide expert advice on complex issuesinvolving the regulation of not for profits including:

- responding to complex complaints and enquiries, making statutory decisions across a range of legislation, providing advice on compliance with statutory obligations, and
providing education and information to the sector on meeting their obligations.

About the role

As the Senior Advisor – Not for Profits, you will be a subject matter expert responsible for the assessment and management of complex regulatory matters relating to not-for-profit organisations. You will ideally hold legal qualifications and have extensive experience in the interpretation of complex legislation and its application in a government setting.

Key responsibilities

- Manage and resolve complex complaints and enquiries relating to the not for profit sector.
- Provide authoritative advice on legislative, policy and compliance issues for the sector.
- Analyse complex information and make evidence-based recommendations and decisions.




- Lead compliance activities in the sector.
- Prepare high-quality written communications, including briefing notes, correspondence, and submissions.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Act as a key liaison with legal teams on matters being considered through tribunals and courts.
- Mentor and support team members by providing technical expertise and guidance.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems and regulatory outcomes.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Experience in the charities and not for profit sector, in interpreting and applying legislation, regulations and policy frameworks.
- Strong experience in regulatory, compliance, legal, governance or investigations environments.
- Excellent written, analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex and sensitive matters to resolution.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation capabilities.
- Experience within legal and regulatory environments, in addition to the not-for-profit sector, will be highly regarded.

Essential requirements

- Tertiary qualifications in law, public policy, or regulatory practice.
- Demonstrated experience in interpreting legislation and managing complex regulatory casework.

Salary Grade 9/10, with the base salary for this role startingat $ base plus superannuation
