Support consumers across Auburn, Blacktown, Parramatta and the wider Western Sydney community

Collaborate with GPs, hospitals, police, private practitioners and other community services

What you'll be doing

As a Mental Health Clinician within the Access and Assessment Mental Health Team, you’ll play a key role in delivering timely, recovery-focused care to consumers experiencing acute mental health concerns. You’ll use your clinical expertise to assess needs, manage risk and connect consumers with the right level of support.

Conduct intake,



triage and comprehensive mental health assessments, including acute crisis assessments

Provide crisis intervention, home treatment and acute clinical care coordination

Liaise with internal and external services to facilitate appropriate, timely and coordinated care

Work collaboratively with consumers and families, providing assessment, education and therapeutic support

Contribute to clinical reviews, risk management, medication support, supervision and multidisciplinary team development, including participation in a rotating 7-day roster

Selection Criteria

- Qualifications which permit registration as a Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, or Psychologist which provides eligibility for membership of the relevant qualified association and full registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency where legislated.
- Experience and clinical skills in community mental health triage, comprehensive assessments, including risk and safety planning as well as experience in provision of collaborative care and discharge planning




- Understanding of Mental Health/ Psychiatry service/ crisis work and ability to work with in a demanding crisis/acute management service.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with consumers/carers/families and has experience working with families who are coping with Mental Health Illness.
- Highly developed interpersonal communications skills, effective verbal, written and negotiation skills and intermediate computer skills.
- Experience and knowledge in acute mental health intervention, early intervention, and CALD issues.
- Understanding of the recovery philosophy and trauma informed care in Mental Health with the ability to implement these in clinical practice.
- Understanding of NSW Mental Health Act (2007).
- Current Driving licence (class C - unrestricted) valid within Australia and willingness to use same for the work purpose.
