Acme Built is a Sydney residential building company specialising in high-end renovations, extensions and custom homes.

We take pride in running organised sites, delivering a high standard of work and communicating properly with our clients, trades and team.

We’re looking for an experienced Lead Carpenter / Leading Hand who can take responsibility on site and become a key part of our team long term.

This is a hands‑on role. You’ll still be on the tools, but you’ll also help lead the team, coordinate trades and make sure the job is being built properly and efficiently.

The Role

Working closely with the Director and Construction Manager, you’ll take ownership of the day-to-day running of our residential sites.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Leading carpenters and apprentices on site
- Hands‑on carpentry across renovations, extensions and custom homes
- Reading and working from architectural and structural plans
- Planning daily and weekly site activities
- Coordinating subcontractors and deliveries
- Checking work before trades move onto the next stage
- Maintaining a high standard of finish and attention to detail
- Identifying issues early and communicating them with management
- Keeping sites clean, organised and safe
- Completing site documentation, photos and daily updates
- Making sure the team follows our safety procedures
- Helping apprentices and younger carpenters develop their skills
- Communicating professionally with clients, designers, trades and suppliers

What We're Looking For





You’ll suit this role if you’re an experienced carpenter who is ready to take ownership rather than wait to be told what to do next.

You must have:

- Qualified carpenter with solid residential construction experience
- Experience with renovations, extensions and detailed residential work
- Previous Leading Hand, Foreman or site leadership experience
- Robust ability to read architectural and structural plans
- Excellent carpentry and problem‑solving skills
- Good understanding of residential building processes
- Strong organisation and communication skills
- High standards for quality and site presentation
- Ability to lead apprentices and other trades respectfully
- Current NSW White Card
- Current Australian driver's licence
- Your own basic tools
- Full Australian working rights
