Business is focused on providing local customers with a convenient, reliable and friendly shopping experience. Business is looking for an experienced and motivated Retail Manager who can take responsibility for the overall operation of the supermarket and help to maintain high standards across all areas of the business.
The Retail Manager will play an important role in managing the day-to-day operations of the supermarket and ensuring the store runs efficiently, professionally and profitably. The successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing staff, stock control, purchasing, supplier relationships, merchandising, pricing, sales performance and customer service. The role will also involve monitoring business performance, manage operational costs and ensuring appropriate procedures are followed across the store.
This is a hands-on management position that requires strong leadership, organisation and decision-making skills. The Retail Manager will work closely with the business owners and staff to maintain smooth store operations, achieve sales and performance targets and provide a high standard of service to customers. The position is well suited to someone with previous experience in supermarket or retail management who is confident managing staff, stock, suppliers and the overall performance of a busy retail business.

Task & responsibilities Plan, organise and manage the day-to-day operations of the supermarket.
Develop and implement operational, purchasing, merchandising and sales strategies. Monitor store sales, expenses and overall financial and operational performance. Determine appropriate product ranges, stock levels and inventory requirements according to customer demand and sales trends.
Manage the purchasing and ordering of groceries, fresh produce, dairy products, beverages, frozen goods and other supermarket merchandise. Liaise and negotiate with franchiser suppliers and wholesalers regarding prices, product quality, availability and delivery arrangements. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate stocktaking, stock rotation and replenishment.
Ensure appropriate procedures are maintained to minimise damaged, expired and wasted stock. Plan and supervise product displays, merchandising arrangements and promotional activities. Establish and monitor product pricing in consideration of supplier costs, market conditions and business objectives.
Recruit, train, supervise and manage supermarket staff. Prepare staff rosters, allocate duties and monitor employee performance. Establish and maintain high standards of customer service.
Handle and resolve customer complaints, enquiries and service issues. Monitor cash handling, point-of-sale procedures and daily financial reconciliations. Implement store policies, operational procedures and loss-prevention measures.
Ensure the premises,
displays and merchandise are maintained in a clean, safe and presentable condition. Ensure compliance with applicable workplace health and safety, food safety and retail operational requirements. Review sales trends, customer preferences and competitor activity to identify opportunities for business improvement.
Prepare and review operational, sales, staffing and inventory reports and report business performance to the owners/directors. Qualification & experience The successful applicant should have: Minimum Diploma level qualification in retail management, business, management or a related field; and/or relevant industry experience.
Relevant experience in retail, grocery or supermarket management will be preferred. Experience supervising and managing employees. Strong understanding of inventory management, purchasing and merchandising.
Experience managing sales performance and operational costs. Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills. Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work effectively in a busy supermarket environment. PR/Citizens will be preferred over other applicants.
