About the role

The caseloads are varied and can include clients with neurological, orthopaedics, amputee, chronic illness, and palliative care conditions.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Social Worker who can work casually with availability required on weekdays. The available position offers a Social Worker the opportunity to be part of a friendly multidisciplinary team.

About us

Hunter Valley Private Hospital, located in Shortland is on the fringe of Newcastle and is close to the Pacific Motorway. HVPH is a busy private hospital that provides care to inpatient Rehabilitation, Medical and Surgical patients, as well as providing overnight & Day Surgery and Outpatient Rehabilitation services.

Key Responsibilities

- Providing a high standard of clinical care
- Working as part of the healthcare team
- Contributing to the multidisciplinary care of our patients
- Involvement with inpatient services providing assessment, care co-ordination, intervention, referrals, advocacy and discharge planning
- Communicating effectively with all stakeholders including doctors, allied health, nurses, patients and their families
- An approved Degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership with the AASW




- Police and Working with Children Checks
- Demonstrated experience in adult acute inpatient hospital experience
- Demonstrated effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences
- Demonstrated conflict resolution skills
- Ability to prioritise caseload and work within timeframes
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage both clinical workload and administrative duties
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team;
- Knowledge on a variety of health-related conditions, aged care services and local community support services
- Ensure patient/consumer care is delivered within professional, organizational, legal and ethical boundaries and reflects evidence based, best practice knowledge

If you are successful in the role, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant experience factored against the relevant Enterprise Agreement, being the Healthscope – Current South Wales –Allied Health Professionals.
