The Station Grocer is a proudly family-owned convenience and fuel retail business with 10 stores across the Northern Rivers. With almost 20 years of experience behind us, we're proud to provide our customers with quality fuel, fresh food, great coffee, everyday essentials and friendly service.

We're looking for an experienced and motivated Store Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operation of one of our established stores.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being involved in the operation, leading a team and maintaining high standards. You'll have responsibility across fresh food, stock control, customer service, team performance, presentation and the overall running of the store.

About the Role

Your standard working hours will be Monday to Friday, 7:00am-3:00pm.

While the role provides consistent daytime hours, as the Store Manager you'll also have responsibility for ensuring the store is appropriately staffed outside these hours. This includes managing the casual roster, responding to unexpected absences and arranging shift coverage when required.

You’ll be the person who keeps the store running smoothly, maintains standards and supports your team to deliver a great customer experience every day.

Key responsibilities

- Managing the day-to-day operation of the store

- Leading our fresh food and convenience retail offer

- Maintaining high standards of food quality,



food safety, cleanliness and presentation

- Managing stock levels, ordering, stock rotation, waste and perishable products

- Driving sales through strong product presentation, availability and customer service

- Managing rosters, staffing requirements and labour costs

- Leading, training, coaching and developing the store team

- Managing recruitment, onboarding and employee performance

- Ensuring appropriate staffing across all trading hours

- Responding to unexpected staffing issues and arranging replacement shifts when required

- Maintaining compliance with company policies, WHS requirements and relevant industry regulations

- Building positive relationships with customers, suppliers and the local community

- Identifying opportunities to improve store performance, efficiency and customer experience

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a leader who understands quick-paced retail and food-based operations and is comfortable taking responsibility for the overall performance of a store.

You’ll be organised, commercially minded and hands-on. You know how to lead people, manage stock and labour, maintain standards and make decisions when things don’t go to plan.

Essential

- 2-3+ years' experience in a Store Manager or similar leadership role

- Experience in fresh food retail, supermarket,



convenience retail, hospitality or another high-volume food-based environment

- Proven experience managing stock control, ordering, waste and perishable products

- Strong understanding of food safety and operational standards

- Experience leading, coaching and developing a team

- Experience managing wages, labour costs, budgets and performance targets

- Strong customer service and communication skills

- Excellent organisation and the ability to prioritise in a busy environment

- A hands-on approach and the ability to take ownership of the operation

- Willingness to be contactable outside standard hours when required for staffing or operational matters

Highly regarded

- Experience in fresh food, grocery or supermarket management

- Convenience retail experience

- Experience managing perishable stock

- Food Safety Supervisor certification

Australian work rights are required for this position.

- After-hours availability: required when necessary to manage staffing and operational matters
