Counsellor, Sexual Assault Worker & Social Worker Level 1 / 2: $79,419 - $113,301 per annum
Psychologist: $83,670 - $122,465 per annum
Where you'll be working
Join the Integrated Violence Prevention & Response Service (IVPRS) at Westmead Hospital, a specialist service providing leadership, clinical care and capacity building across sexual assault, domestic violence and child protection. Working alongside experienced clinicians and multidisciplinary partners, you'll play a vital role in supporting victim-survivors through compassionate, evidence-based interventions while contributing to a culture of collaboration, learning and excellence.

What you'll be doing
As the Sexual Assault Referral Management & Early Support Counsellor, you will be responsible for coordinating referrals and delivering early intervention support to adolescents, adults and non-offending family members affected by sexual assault.
This rewarding role combines clinical practice, advocacy and cooperative case management within a specialist violence, abuse and neglect service.
- Manage and coordinate sexual assault referrals from first contact through to allocation, ensuring timely and responsive service delivery.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and provide short-term counselling, advocacy and case management for clients experiencing the impacts of sexual assault and related trauma.
- Participate in a 24-hour on-call roster supporting people who have recently experienced sexual assault.
- Collaborate with sexual assault, domestic violence and child protection professionals to deliver integrated, holistic and trauma-informed care.
- Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining high-quality documentation, data collection and reporting.
Selection Criteria
1. Tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor’s degree) in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Graduate Certificate in Human & Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma) and eligibility for appropriate professional registration or association membership.
2. Demonstrated experience in complex trauma and trauma informed practice, preferably within a Violence, Abuse & Neglect (e.g. sexual assault, child protection or domestic violence) or related setting.
3. Demonstrated assessment and case management skills with children, young people and adults.
4. Demonstrated understanding of the inter-related dynamics and effects of sexual assault,
physical abuse and neglect and domestic violence and a commitment to integrated models for working with clients who have experienced trauma and abuse.
5. Demonstrated understanding of intergenerational trauma and the principles of cultural safety, with experience in (or commitment to) providing culturally responsive services to individuals and families.
6. Demonstrated interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated capacity to work with in collaboration and partnership with a wide range of key internal and external stakeholders.
7. Knowledge and understanding of the legal systems, legislation and policies & procedures relating to violence, abuse and neglect.
8. Current NSW Driver’s License
